Our President

John S. Deerkoski, P.E., S.E., P.P., is president of John S. Deerkoski, P.E. and Associates in Warwick , New York providing professional engineering services to contractors, owners, and other professionals.  Many (AVG.10) of the " ENR Top 400 Contractors" are clients.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer in 19 States and has been involved in over 3,000 structures from tunnels to high-rise structures, from historic to state-of-the-art structures.  He has held many positions in construction from ironworker to general superintendent, and designed a wide variety of temporary and permanent structures and specialized construction equipment.

He is past Chairman of ANSI Committee B30.1 on Hydraulic Jacks.

ASCE-37-02 Sub-committee Chairman "Design Loads on Structures During Construction."

Instructor of ASCE Continuing Education Program for "Temporary Structures in Construction."

He has been an active member of the Associate General Contractors of New York State , serving on the AGC /NYSDOT Specifications Committee reviewing and revising New York State Department of Transportation specifications.  Constructability and value engineering requires current knowledge of the activities of various industry and code writing organizations of which he is a present or past active member (attached list). He has presented papers and given lectures on:

He is recognized nationally as an expert on the "Means and Methods of Construction", value engineering, and is retained by agencies, owners, and contractors to prevent structural failures during construction or to perform forensic investigations. 

He holds BSCE from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, supplemented by Continuing Education courses and participation in several national specification and code writing organizations.

Since 1975, John S. Deerkoski has been president and owner of John S. Deerkoski, P.E. & Associates.

John S. Deerkoski is recognized nationally as an expert in construction and demolition procedures. The publishing of this document in the Fall of 2002 culminated 15 years of work on the document.

John S. Deerkoski is Chairman of The Sub-Committee writing Chapter 4 "Construction Loads."

TEMPORARY STRUCTURES SEMINARS

John S. Deerkoski, P.E. and Robert T. Ratay were co-instructors for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) seminars and lectures on "Temporary Structures."

Lectures were given over several years in the United States and Canada, in order to provide instruction to owners, engineers, architects, regulatory agencies, etc., to understand the design processes involved in construction and demolition.  

RELATED EXPERIENCE

Demolition, erection and rehabilitation procedures for hundreds of structures in the United States , designing the means and methods for the contractors.

Currently designing jacking systems to change the bearings on the Triborough Bridge and the approach viaducts in New York City .

Previously worked on the Tappan Zee Bridge , Williamsburg Bridge , Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge , Queensboro Bridge , etc.
